BOOT(S)TRAPS
they’ve learned my undoings
prowling like animals in a room full off messy
foundations are always part
of good contingency planning.
i tell you,
they may leave a whole in the blind of some ceiling,
but im steps ahead,
already perfecting the hums that bounce back
leaving fingerprints only in the right places
calculating how many step step step
before its too heavy.
i don’t consider it cruel
play at these musical chairs with our rib-cage exposed
when everyone participates
knowing full well
the consequences of too slow.
